Google Search Console Indexing Bug

Google Search Console is still working on the de-indexing issue which was reported on last week. Due to this indexing bug, enhancement and coverage reports, as well as the URL Inspection tool, still impacted according to Google. It seems like this Search Console Indexing Bug is spreading like a virus to other parts of Google.

Google confirmed in a tweet that they are working on it, if you discover a URL is not included, so you can also use the URL Inspector tool to resubmit that page. As you can see, in the reply I said that Old Search Console was better than this new one.

Google Search Console Tweet

Many SEOs and site owners noticed their index coverage and enhancement reports have not been updated in the Search Console. Last weekend, I saw huge drops in my client’s website indexed pages in the coverage report.

Here is a screen shot:

Search Console Coverage

According to Google, they are recovering on this Search Console Indexing Bug issue but no time frame because it is taking a lot of time. It means that index coverage and enhancement reports were not updated recently and URL Inspector might not reflect live status. Google said that “they will officially update us when it will resolve, if you need to check the status of a URL in the Google index, use the site: command”.

If you find the pages are still missing from Google’s index after used ‘site search’ command, then it is possible the issue is specifically to your site. You can submit that site-specific issues by submitting a thread to Google’s webmaster community message board.

Google Search Console Indexing Bug Quick Review:

Here’s a quick review on what has happened and what is going on with the Google’s Search Console indexing bug:

  • On April 4, SEOs and site owners started reporting that a huge amount of their site’s pages were missing from Google’s index.
  • On April 6, Google’s John Mueller confirmed there’s a technical issue affecting the search index which will be resolved.
  • Google posted updates on Twitter in the last week and keep everyone informed as to what was going on.
  • On April 10, Google tweet that the issue was resolved in search results.

But last day, April 15, Google confirmed that the Search Console reports and tools are having issues. I think after indexing bug issue resolved, it should be the biggest Google indexing problem of 2019.

Bing Update: Text-to-Speech, Intelligent Answers, Visual Search

The NVIDIA’s GPU Technology Conference was held on 20 March 2019, and Bing Update various features including intelligent answers system, text-to-speech capabilities and visual search engine. All these features help you to quickly find what you’re looking for, powered by Azure virtual machines that are running on NVIDIA GPUs and optimized with NVIDIA CUDA-X AI software libraries.

Bing Update App Features:

Text-To-Speech:

The new updated Bing App is able to change text to speech, which means Bing can give answers according to your queries with voice, nearly indistinguishable from a human’s. Bing said that ‘this advance text to speech feature is breakthrough for deep neural networks’ and gives credit to NVIDIA GPUs higher processing power unit to make this happen’.

Bing Text-To-Speech

According to Bing – this app also supports speech as an input, means you can easily speak to your mobile devices, Bing text-to-speech app will convert your spoken words into text format and search that query for you. You just need to press the microphone button on the app homepage, speak your question, and you’ll get search results.

Intelligent Answers:

Bing said that intelligent answers will provide more “comprehensive, summarized information aggregated across several sources in response to certain queries”. They are upgrading their deep learning models with AI technology, so they are able to “provide answers for harder questions than ever before.”

Bing Intelligent Answers

The intelligent answers requires a lot of processing power, so Bing is introducing recent advancements in GPU technology that help to process entire web pages much faster and more efficiently than traditional models powered by CPUs. Bing gave a good example, instead of the relatively simple answer to ‘what is the capital of Bangladesh’, Bing can now provide answers to more complex questions, such as ‘what are different types of lighting for a living room’, quicker than before.

Visual Search:

Bing added the ability to search using an image, although I though Bing had that before. Bing’s example, if you see an image of an accent light you like, Bing can show visually-similar decor and even show purchase options at different price points if the item is available online. To save you time, visual search also automatically detects and places clickable hotspots over important objects you may want to search for next.

Bing added that visual search allows you to search using an image. For example, if you see an image of an accent light you like, Bing can show visually-similar decor and even show purchase options at different price points – if the item is available for sale online. To save you time, visual search also automatically detects and places clickable hotspots over important objects you may want to search for next.

Bing Visual Search

Furthermore, Bing said “our advanced visual search capabilities such as object detection are quick and automatic using NVIDIA GPUs for inferencing, which have yielded dramatic processing efficiency compared to CPU-powered inference, hence unlocking this scenario for our customers”.

Google Released v1.1 of the Google Ads API

Google has announced the new version of Google Ads Editor and replaced the old AdWords Editor. The latest version of Google Ads 1_1 incorporated with new features for ads, conversions, reporting as well as Hotel Ads, App campaigns and more. Keep in mind that the Company has rebranded Google AdWords to Google Ads Editor and also added new features. On Wednesday, March 27, 2019, Google wrote at Developer Blog “Today we’re announcing Google Ads Editor, v1 which is a new and advanced version of the Editor that you’ll love over the past 13 years”.

Google Ads Editor

Google officially released this new 1.1 version of Google Ads and you only need to update your client libraries in order to use v1_1 features. If you’re still using previous version of AdWords API, now it’s a time to upgrade with the new API.

What is Google Ads API?

The Google Ads API is the modern programmatic interface to Google Ads. It enables developers to interact directly with the Google Adwords platform, vastly increasing the efficiency of managing large accounts and campaigns. With the Google Ads API you can build a program that can manages Google accounts from customer to keyword level. Programmatically the API works the same like Google Ads UI does, and exposes both standard JSON REST endpoints and a high-performance gRPC interface. Google also provided pre-built client libraries in a variety of programming languages to get you started.

Client Libraries:

Our client libraries provide high-level views and basic building blocks of Google Ads API functionality, making it easier to develop apps quickly. We recommend starting out with one if you’re new to the API.

Google Ads Client Libraries

Here are the highlights:

  • Ads. Create assets for asset-based ads using AssetService.
  • Campaigns. Create App Campaigns (equivalent to Universal App Campaigns in AdWords API) by creating a Campaign and setting the advertising_channel_type to MULTI_CHANNEL and the advertising_channel_sub_type to APP_CAMPAIGN.
  • Conversions. Adjust conversions with the new Conversion Adjustment Upload Service. Upload call conversions with the Upload Call Conversions Request in the Conversion Upload Service.
  • Hotel Ads. Hotel Ads now includes more metrics and segments. See the release notes for details.
  • Recommendations. Added Recommendation types Move Unused Budget Recommendation and Keyword Match Type Recommendation.
  • Reporting. Views were expanded to include more metrics and segments. See the Reporting section in the release notes for exact details.

Why You Need To Update?

The new beta (V1) version of Google Ads API was released in March 2019. If you still using the Old APIs and not updated to the latest version, now is a good time to migrate because the old V0 beta version will shut down on April 30, 2019. With the V_1 version, you can update your client libraries and get familiar with the features and functionality of this latest version. Also Google designed new Query Language,  to make querying more faster and flexible.
